10 days of freezing cold, 10 days of summer temperatures, and now snow again. This is the resume of the weather these past 20 days. On Monday afternoon we had 25°C with full sun and on Tuesday we woke up to 0°C and snow.
The snow itself isn’t a big problem but the cold and lack of water is. I was really hoping we would get a nice amount of rain through this storm, because we’re in desperate need of rain, but, instead we got snow which in combination with strong north wind brought almost no water to the garden. We got around 10 liters of rain and snow, but this is nothing because there was no significant rain in February or March.
The low temperature brought us a freezing Wednesday morning so again I had to bring all my seedlings indoors. My windows are full again.
The problem is that now I have a bunch of new seedlings like beans which germinated last week so now I had to bring them indoors too.
The older ones like tomatoes and peppers are starting to flower almost a month earlier, and they won’t even go to the garden until May 15th. I have no idea what to do with them. I can’t leave them outside, they will freeze and I can’t keep them in because the constant 20°C will make them flower even faster.
I’m starting to get worried that if we get another wild storm like this one which will drop our temperatures to 0°C all my seedlings will be lost and this year will be a disaster.
Even Srećko is starting to complain about the weather. He’s moping around the house today since he saw the snow.
We could really use some nice and normal spring weather by now. No need for a sunbathed week. Just a normal spring with a couple of showers and decent temperatures.
