weekly seedling progress

It has been a month since I’ve sown peppers and perennial flowers and 10 days since I’ve sown tomatoes and the second batch of flowers. The first batch of flowers is still dormant, only Anemone and two Echinacea seeds have germinated. I collected these Anemone seeds last year from the bulbs which I bought in the fall, so I’m delighted that I managed to grow some seedlings from these seeds. Other flowers didn’t grow yet, but I was ready for these seeds to be very slow.

Peppers are slightly better. There are more seedlings showing. Some varieties still haven’t grown any seedlings, but they are the varieties that need a longer time so I’m not worried. I will be adding some more soil to the seedling this week, but I need to warm up and disinfect the soil first before adding it.

The tomatoes have already started growing even though I didn’t expect them to germinate so soon. All of the early varieties are already growing. The fastest one is Lyagushka Tsarevna, it germinated in just 5 days. In a couple of days, I’m expecting to see Zagrebačka Rana, Malakhitovaya shkatulka, and Rio Grande.

The second batch of flowers is also showing little seedlings, mostly in flower mixes which obviously contain some fast germinating varieties. This is actually a good thing because I’ll be able to transplant bigger plants that will most likely bloom this year.

Taking everything into consideration my seedlings are doing good. They all have nice color and aren’t too leggy, except for Lyagushka. I didn’t notice it germinated and I left in the dark for 24h. The growth lights will be good enough for the next 3-4 weeks. After this, I will be able to take my seedling to the sun every day.
