another harvest Wednesday

After the last rain period, the morning temperatures have dropped and are now around 10°C (50°F). This has slowed down my vegetable growth and now I’m harvesting only once a week. Today I decided it was a good day to harvest. I started my harvest with grapes. They are sweet enough and will make great juice.

I’m really happy with the number of grapes we got this year. Two plants gave us 15 kilos (33lbs). The white grapes are a bit affected by late blight, but nothing too serious, while the black ones are completely healthy.

In the garden, I’ve been doing my standard harvests. The cucumbers on the net are still growing. The fruits are a bit darker due to the lower temperature but they are still healthy and there are still new flowers growing so if the temperatures don’t drop under 10°C I’ll probably harvest throughout September.
Carrots are also growing nicely and I’m still just harvesting the amount needed to cook during the week. I won’t be harvesting all of them until October.
Raspberries are in the middle of the second harvest period. The fruits are healthy and I’ll be harvesting them at least 2 more weeks.

Beans are starting to flower for the second time and will be soon ready for the second harvest and July sown beans are already producing beans which I’ve started to harvest.

The stormy wind we had last week knocked and snapped my bean poles so now they are all over the bed. I tried to fix them but didn’t want to mess too much with them while they are flowering. I’ll just have to manage with the poles that are already on the bed.

After the harvest, I tried to harvest my only alive tomato dwarf plant but gave up as soon as Rue started to steal and eat them. I’ll harvest them tomorrow as she’ll be going to her forever home today. It was another fun experience fostering this little lady.

The cabbages, chard, kale, and rest of the plants are doing fine. I didn’t harvest them as I don’t need any right now and also they are just fine in the garden. I’ll harvest them if the weather changes or they get too big.
