Another seed delivery

Last week after the first delivery of the seedbox from Planthouse, I got my second delivery from Pšeno. Pšeno is a farm shop that holds absolutely everything a farmer needs, and that of course includes seeds. I’ve been ordering seeds from them for the past two years because they hold the biggest selection of vegetable varieties in the Croatian stores. Maybe there are some with more varieties, but they don’t have an online store, and this is the only way I can order my seeds right now.

I managed to find everything I wanted to buy. The only thing that wasn’t available was the pole beans which I’ve selected, but I’m not too worried about that since I’m not really sure I’ll actually sow any pole beans.

Last year I wasn’t able to sow any flowers I wanted, so this year I bought all the available flower varieties. I’ll have to plan where I’ll sow all the flowers, of course, if they manage to germinate. I have a bunch of flowers from Planthouse also, but I’ll need lots of flowers for next year anyway, so it is never too much.

The vegetable seeds are basically “a bit of everything”. I’ve bought lots of varieties with a short growing season. Some of the varieties might look like they would give smaller veggies than “normal”, but in my forest garden, the normal varieties don’t have time to grow so short-growing veggies are better.

I’ve added more lettuce varieties to the sowing collection and a couple of new brassicas. I will be moving part of the veggies to the side part of the yard and this will give me more room in the garden for seedlings.

I’ve also bought some of the herbs for a small herb garden including climbing spinach, basil, dill, and balcony tomatoes for dried tomatoes.

I will also try growing pumpkins this year. I have some spare room on the lower part of the garden which could be good for pumpkin vines.

Now I’ll spend some time planning the garden to know which parts of the garden need to be prepared earlier and how many seedlings I’ll actually grow. Still, I’ll have to finish by December, since some of the flowers will be sown after Christmas.

Wow, you have gone to town! Are you starting "all new" or do you keep any open (or closed) packets from previous years?
