 After almost a whole month of sun and drought, this weekend brought us a violent weather change. From almost 25\u00b0C(77\u00b0F) we dropped to 0\u00b0C(32\u00b0F) in just 24h. Instead of rain, we got snow. Luckily the soil was warm enough from the previous warmth, so the snow didn’t stick long. It was melting while falling. Still, the change made us bring all the seedlings indoors.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Since my lighted shelves are packed, the tomato and brassica crates ended up on the kitchen floor. I’ve been jumping over them through the weekend. I’ve taken brassicas outside during the afternoons, but the tomatoes were left indoors from Friday till Monday when the madness finally stopped.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Monday was the coldest morning in the past 14 days. Luckily the frost temperature -0.3\u00b0C(31.46\u00b0F), lasted for just 45 minutes, so there was no damage in the garden or the orchard. Tuesday temperatures didn’t drop under 3\u00b0C(37\u00b0F), so I guess we dodged the frost bullet this week. Also, although the weather change was drastic, there was no strong wind. We got some south and later north wind, but the speed never reached over 65km\/h (40mph). This is considered a light breeze here, so there was no wind frost damage.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Now that the snowy weather has passed, it’s time to take all the seedlings back out and start working in the garden. Hopefully, this is the last drastic change, and we can start our gardening season. We’re already running late.<\/p>\n
