One of my favorite flowers has always been orchids. Their delicate flowers are some of the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever seen and in my eyes, they represent something very gentle and sensitive. Still, no matter how much I loved them I never had the courage to have them at home.<\/span>

<\/a><\/div>\n


<\/span>Past Valentine’s day my hubby bought me an orchid and I had no choice but to start growing one. It came with a bit of damaged leaves but other than that it was a healthy plant. I honestly had no idea what to expect so I did my reading about them just to try and keep it alive for at least a couple of months.<\/span><\/p>\n

I successfully made it bloom one more time in July and then I’ve trimmed the stems and got them ready for the winter period. <\/span>

A few weeks back my orchid started forming new buds and gave me a sign that it has survived the winter on my kitchen window. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n


<\/span>But one stem worried me, it didn’t grow any flower buds, instead, it was growing another orchid on top of its stem. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n


<\/span>I honestly had no idea what this is and was a bit worried because I had no idea what to do. Do I cut it off or leave it, is it normal that my plant has two plants, or is this the result of my mistake. <\/span>
So again I had to do my reading and try to find an answer and I found it in the form of “Orchid Keiki”.<\/span>

<\/a><\/div>\n


<\/span>I did nothing wrong and my orchid is just having baby orchids. I had no idea they could grow so high on the stem. I expected that if my orchid will grow new plants they would grow on the soil next to the old ones or they will share the same root. Also what surprised me the most is that this small plant didn’t have any roots. It really looked to me like a parasite plant.<\/span>

<\/span>My baby plant still has no roots, but I’m confident it will grow them soon and then I hope I will be able to transplant it and have another beautiful plant as the mother one is. <\/span><\/p>\n
