March has continued the trend of unusually warm and dry weather. The first 20 days have been really warm with daily temperatures over 20\u00b0C and fully sunny days. We had a continuous 10 sunny days which raised our average March temperature to 14.1\u00b0C while the normal average is the only 6.4\u00b0C. When it comes to rain we’re still in deficit with 30 liters this month(10L below the average) but due to the lack of snow in January and February, we’re now in a very dry period. <\/span>
March was much windier than the past month with 4 days of the strong south wind and 9 days of very strong north wind which average was around 50km\/h and gusts of 80km\/h.  <\/span>

<\/a><\/div>\n


<\/span>The end of the month brought us a snow and wind storm which also came with very low temperatures and they froze many of the plants in the garden. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n


<\/span>When it comes to garden work there hasn’t been much work because I was really careful with the temperature. It was just too suspicious for me to have such warm weather and I decided not to sow anything. It was a good decision because now I’d have much more damage in the garden if I did sow.<\/span>
The only jobs that have been done are manure spreading and berry pruning.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>When it comes to my seedlings I’m really struggling this year. The peppers are doing great, the tomatoes are ok but I have lots of pots with seeds that didn’t germinate but every other vegetable variety is giving me a headache. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>I don’t have any room in the house or the greenhouse and the temperature outside is just too low to keep them outside. I have a bunch of pots that haven’t germinated even after almost a month from sowing.<\/span>
I’m hoping April will be warmer and more normal. <\/span>

<\/span>Another thing worth mentioning about March is the earthquake we had a week ago. Yes, in February there was a meteor and now an earthquake M5.5 woke us on Sunday 22nd. It did a lot of damage in Zagreb and I can say it wasn’t a pretty feeling to wake up like that. I’m 20km airline distance from the epicenter and the shaking was really strong. We did have some fallen things but luckily no structural damage. I should mention that here earthquakes are not that common and even if we get them they are never over M3. This was the strongest one in 140 years, so yeah, it wasn’t a very nice feeling. <\/span><\/p>\n
