 Unlike most of the gardening season this week, I haven’t been in the garden at all. The last time I was in the garden was a week ago to harvest the vegetables. Since then I haven’t been feeling too good and I just didn’t feel like going to the garden. I also gave up on weeding the garden so I can say that this weeding season is over. In the next month, I’ll have to harvest all the vegetables, pull them out and dig the garden so there is actually no point in weeding it anymore. I’ll remove the weeds before digging so I don’t really care if there is grass on the beds or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

The winter beds which I’ve already dag are still empty. The weather has been unusually warm, without any rain and temperatures around 30\u00b0C (86\u00b0F) so there was no point in sowing and planting anything. I’m waiting for the first proper rain and then I’ll sow everything. <\/span><\/p>\n

So the only thing I did was today’s harvest. I’m still harvesting the same old vegetables. Carrots, a couple of cabbages for salad, beans, cucumbers, and raspberries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cucumbers are almost over and I’ll be removing the net soon. There’s only a couple of plants that still have flowers, the rest of the plants are already dead.<\/span><\/div>\n
Beans, on the other hand, are flowering and producing new pods like mad. <\/span><\/div>\n

Beans have been the star of the year, with a kilo or two every week. I’ll definitely be sowing more pole beans next year.

Leek has also been growing like the mad the past couple of weeks and I’ll soon be harvesting my first leeks in a couple of weeks. I could leave them to grow bigger, but I prefer to harvest them while they are still really young. The taste of a young leek is far better than the fully grown plants.<\/span><\/div>\n

I’ll try to do some garden work in the next couple of days if I’ll feel better. I still haven’t prepared the spring bulb bed and maybe I’ll sow some lettuce seedlings for late lettuce harvest. If I don’t spend the rest of the week dragging around the house like the past couple of days. <\/span><\/div>\n
