 It’s been almost a month since I did any real garden work. First, there was a long rain period and now it’s been over 14 days that I’m dealing with Covid. The Covid actually didn’t bother me too much and I did some garden work while I was sick, but last 7 days my sinuses decided to join forces with the virus and are hitting hard. I’m constantly tired, can’t really do anything without getting extremely exhausted and as soon as I start working I start coughing like mad so I’m trying to keep still and rest. This isn’t easy because there’s a lot of work to be done and I’m the type of person that can’t relax as long as there is some kind of unfinished work. On Tuesday I’ve started to keep the night curtains closed during the day just so that I can’t see the garden and the mess in it. I just get really annoyed. For now, it’s working and I’m not stressing so much about the garden. But the same method didn’t work with my balcony plants. <\/span><\/p>\n

So even though sick and unable to breathe properly I just had to clean up the balcony. I’ve moved some of my summer carnations to the basement to keep them from freezing. I’ve moved the rest of the containers closer to the house. While moving them I realized, after 6 months, that the hanging baskets can be turned into a normal pot. So I’ve moved the hanging baskets to the container holder and will keep them here until the first stronger frost when I’ll move one of the pots to the house and the other to the basement. I hope one of them will survive. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Since my balcony is full of young plants and the mornings are getting colder I had to move the seedlings and young plants too. I’ve harvested my green onions for the second time this week and left them outside, for now, transplanted the digitalis and carnation seedlings and moved them to the house and removed the dead lavender branches, and left the ones that grew roots. I’ve moved them closer to the house and will move them indoors eventually. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

My eggplant is still very small and is started to forming buds now. I’ll move it to the house too and I’ll do a little experiment to see if the plant will grow eggplants inside the house.<\/p>\n

The ipomoea is starting to suffer because of the weather and not looking too good, but I decided to leave it for now. I’m hoping to gather some seeds and there are still dozens of unopened flowers so I couldn’t remove it. I’ll leave it for a couple of weeks more and remove it before I put the Christmas decorations on.<\/span><\/p>\n

And speaking of Christmas, the Christmas decorations are actually what I’ve been doing lately while I’ve been stuck inside the house. A few weeks back I bought a bunch of fabrics and with the ones I bought earlier I now have a huge pile of fabrics to sew. I’ve decided to make some new pillowcases for my decorative pillows, some black couch covers, and some Christmas tablecloths.

I also bought a bunch of crepe papers and I’ve been making crepe paper flowers. I haven’t made them for ages but I’m slowly remembering how to make them and I’ll be making a flower Christmas wreath and some flower ornaments for the tree. I still need to find and buy a new Christmas tree but as you can see this will be a very purple Christmas. <\/span><\/div>\n

I’m hoping I’ll feel better next week and I’ll finally be able to do some real garden work like carrots harvesting and deep digging, but I’ll not push it. I don’t want to catch pneumonia, and honestly, with the cough and short breath I’ve been having lately, I’m not sure I would be able to do any digging if I went too soon to the garden.
