 Although it didn’t seem like March would be any different than any other month it has been actually one of the busiest months in a long time. I’ve been running around the past couple of months, but the past 5 weeks have been so busy that I’d get up at 4am, work until 8pm, shower and go to sleep and do everything all over again. I didn’t have much time for anything, including blog so I just had to skip writing. <\/span><\/p>\n

Luckily things are finally returning to normal, my mum is finally able to walk and I don’t have to take care of her 24\/7, other family issues have been resolved and I’m now finally after many months able to say that I’ll be able to return to my normal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although I’ve been busy, the gardening chores have been done, mostly on time. There have been many things that should have been done the past fall, but I had no time or health to do it so I’m doing it now.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve been deep-digging the parts of the garden that I’ve left unattended, and I dag the strawberry bed that was full of grass and dead plants. <\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve also done all the necessary pruning and cleaning of the berries. Raspberries have been pruned the usual way, red currants have been sorted and blackberries tied to the wires. We’ve removed one of the blackberry nets. The roots on this net were very old and the new ones that grew out started giving small fruits. We decided to cut the canes completely. We don’t need so many blackberries anyway and I’ll use these wires to plant beans. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the middle of the month, I ordered some flowers for the garden. Most of them are annuals for the balcony, but I also bought a couple of perennials for my sloppy part of the garden. <\/span><\/p>\n

I wasn’t planning to plant them so early, but the past week has been so hot that I had no choice. I couldn’t water my plants properly in the small pots and they kept on overdrying so I’ve planted them in the bigger pots and to the garden. Since the frost danger isn’t over I’ll probably have to cover them with agrotextile at least once but I’m trying not to worry. <\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve sown all of the seeds that are meant to be planted as seedlings, I’ve decided to do most of the veggies as seedlings since the garden is too cold for a very long period. This way I’ll start my plants earlier and transplant them at the end of May. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

When it comes to the garden, plants that have been in the garden during winter like onions, garlic, and tulips have survived and are growing madly. I also have some garlic seedlings that I have no memory of sowing. They appeared on the wrong bed, but still, I’m happy they are growing so nicely. <\/span><\/p>\n

Most of the lettuce froze during winter and only lamb’s lettuce started growing back. The kale which I left over the winter was eaten by some kind of animal, I’m guessing rabbits. But the remaining canes started growing new leaves so I’ll have some early kale anyway. <\/span><\/p>\n

There is still lots of work to be done, I’ll do it after a small break during the Easter holidays. It’s time to take a small break. <\/span><\/p>\n
