 June brought us first harvests. The cold has been affecting us for too long so everything is a bit late but still, I’ve started harvesting peas, strawberries, lettuce, and cucumbers. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

A few days back I’ve finally harvested my onions. I’ve wanted to leave them a bit longer since the heads were really small, but the greens started to dry and there was no point in leaving onions in the soil in this heat. So I decided to harvest them. Originally the plan was to harvest these onions until late May and use these beds to plant tomatoes, but due to the cold spring, this plan failed misserably.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Garlic has also stopped growing, so I rushed the harvest to save the greens. I’ve set all the bulbs to dry them and I’ve chopped the garlic greens and froze them so they could be used fresh. <\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of the onions I’ve sown some more cucumbers and watermelons which will like the heat that this bed gets and on the other bed I’ve planted more onion sets. <\/p>\n

If my new onions don’t get the chance to fully grow I’ll use them as green onions. They always have the time to grow. <\/span><\/p>\n
