 When your garden is on a steep hill there’s one thing you never do and that is walking up and down for no reason. Your legs give up on you after 2 or 3 trips up and down the garden, especially if you need to return to your house to get things. That’s why I was always acting like a kangaroo and carried everything I could possibly need to and from the garden, and always there was at least one thing I’d forget to take. I had multiple situations where I had to use my clothes to take my harvests home because I forgot to take extra bags or delay tying or cutting something because I didn’t have rope or scissors with me.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the sowing season, I’d need at least two bags for all the things I’d need to carry, and together with the seedlings, I’d be so full of things that in the end I’d need at least two trips just to take everything down.

I even tried a plastic basket for my things. This worked great for harvests but it would be mostly full of things I needed in the garden and I’d end up carrying vegetables in extra bags. <\/span><\/p>\n

This year I tried my hubby’s old biking bag. This worked well for my things, but it ended up being too small for everything. So I ended up with another extra bag to carry everything.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Finally, this week while my hubby was cleaning out his basement workshop he found an old tool cabinet which he painted and took to the garden. Now I have a small tool cabinet in the garden and finally, I don’t have to carry everything with me. I’ll still do some decoration on it to make it blend into the garden, but for now, it will be perfect just the way it is. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

I’ve already filled a big part of the cabinet just with stuff I had with me on this trip to the garden. There’s still a bunch of stuff I need to take to the garden but there’s time to take it. I’ll leave everything that I don’t need in the front yard in this cabinet. The seeds will stay in the house and I’ll carry them to the garden when I’ll need them. The cabinet is made from metal and I still don’t know if there will be any condensation from the temperature changes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Right about the same time I decided to make myself a small tool belt because I’m sick of not having room for the tools while working. I was planning to make a garden vest but this will wait since it’s too warm to have any extra clothes on.<\/span><\/div>\n

I went with a velcro belt and attachable pockets. This way I can choose pockets I need and carry only the needed ones. I made different-sized pockets and one for the phone. Now it will be easier to have the things that I need with me. <\/span><\/div>\n

Now I still need to think of some kind of bag that I could hang on my shoulder or waist to put the green waste while pruning and thinning my plants. Right now I use buckets and bags, but this is a bit tricky since the buckets tend to roll over when not placed properly on a downhill path. With some kind of bag, I’d solve that problem and gardening would be a bit easier.
