 What was supposed to be this year’s project was prolonged to next year. I’ve always wanted to have a garden surrounded by tall and jungle-looking flowers but never had the time to do it. I wanted to make flower borders this year, but again, I didn’t have time, so I decided this will not happen next year. I will start making flower borders right now so that I would have everything ready for next spring. <\/p>\n

The parts of the garden that were supposed to border didn’t host any vegetables this year. I left them free to sow flowers, but since I didn’t do it now, I have to dig them first to prepare them once more.<\/p>\n

So, today I’ve started with deep digging on one of the empty beds. Since we’re back in another heatwave, it’s not an easy task to deep dig. It’s much easier to do it during autumn and not in the early morning at 25\u00b0C ( 77\u00b0F) and in 80% humidity. This is why I will have to do smaller bits and not whole beds. <\/p>\n

The good thing about the digging in heat is that I don’t have to weed the beds first. The afternoon heat will kill off all the weeds. I will just have to pull out the leftover dried roots, water the bed tomorrow, and the bed will be ready for sowing. On this part of the bed, I’ll soon sow Sweet Williams and in the spring quinoa. Quinoa will grow as a tall plant fence throughout this bed. <\/p>\n

Right now. I have tomatoes and chicory on the rest of this bed, but I’ll plant here some of the perennials which I bought and sown last week. Also, I’ll move the water barrel to this side to fill it more easily. Now, I have to pull the hose around the vegetables, and moving it here, I’ll be able to pull the hose directly and fill it up. <\/div>\n

This bed is connected to my lavender bed. Tomorrow and on Wednesday I’ll try to deep dig the parts between the lavender bushes. I’m still not sure what I’ll place here, probably the new yellow daylily, and a couple of perennials, daisies maybe. <\/div>\n

On the opposite side of these beds, I have a part of the garden close to the fence which is also empty right now. I’ll probably plant foxgloves here, they like a bit of moisture and should like it here. <\/div>\n

As I wrote before the lower part is starting to form the intended shape. Cosmos border will be extended all the way to the shaded part where I’ll most likely plant hardy gloxinias. They thrive in the sun, but not in the scorching afternoon sun so, they’ll be better in the shaded part of the garden.<\/div>\n

I still have to find the plants I’ll sow in the upper part. I did plant some tulips here and I bought a beautiful hosta for the shaded part, but this will not be enough. I’m still not sure if I’ll sow annuals here and come up with the permanent solution next year or I’ll find something to plant soon.<\/p><\/div>\n

With the deep digging started and new perennials sown, I feel like I’m one step closer to my dream garden. Now I can just hope there will be no more surprises and I’ll be able to continue with the work. <\/div>\n
