Although summer has been really hot, the cold spring and slow soil warming had delayed my tomatoes. But, finally, tomatoes are ready, and I&#8217;ve harvested the first 1,5kg of tomatoes. (3.3 lb).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-UkUaxaA5Wws\/YQooNmQHoJI\/AAAAAAAABsE\/NVDDfFAMJDQwCMGWMpcg0OherBJUBA1SgCLcBGAsYHQ\/s2048\/IMG_20210803_102459.jpg?ssl=1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1536\" data-original-width=\"2048\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-UkUaxaA5Wws\/YQooNmQHoJI\/AAAAAAAABsE\/NVDDfFAMJDQwCMGWMpcg0OherBJUBA1SgCLcBGAsYHQ\/w640-h480\/IMG_20210803_102459.jpg?resize=640%2C480&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Some of my tomatoes, the ones near the cucumbers, cracked due to the heat and watering. Tomatoes can&#8217;t absorb the water due to the excessive heat, and this causes them to crack. Usually, I plant tomatoes that are crack resistant, but this year I bought seedlings, so I have no idea what varieties I have. This can be prevented with a watering schedule, but when the tomatoes are planted with cucumbers, it can be difficult to control them. Cucumbers need more water than tomatoes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-0xOojcV-mY8\/YQooXwWgJgI\/AAAAAAAABsQ\/dK8QphN7X28_48Z82vki-g2_7de-2KyYgCLcBGAsYHQ\/s2048\/IMG_20210731_062245.jpg?ssl=1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1536\" data-original-width=\"2048\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-0xOojcV-mY8\/YQooXwWgJgI\/AAAAAAAABsQ\/dK8QphN7X28_48Z82vki-g2_7de-2KyYgCLcBGAsYHQ\/w640-h480\/IMG_20210731_062245.jpg?resize=640%2C480&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also harvested the last of two spring lettuces, they were starting to bolt, and the lower leaves were drying, so there was no point in leaving them in the garden. Leaves are starting to grow faster since I&#8217;ve started to harvest the big leaves. If the weather continues to be hot, I will be harvesting every 2 weeks, and if we finally get some rain, I&#8217;ll probably be harvesting every week. The more peppers I harvest, the more new peppers appear. There are plenty of fruits on the plants, and I think I finally found gherkins that like to grow in my soil and weather conditions. Next year I&#8217;ll create some trellis for them for easier harvest.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><object contentid=\"8d57c2c939ac9b56\" height=\"266\" width=\"320\"><\/object><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>This was an excellent harvest, although the weather is still pretty bad. We&#8217;re completely dry, and we desperately need some rain.
