Although this September has been warmer than normal, with temperatures constantly over 25\u00b0C (77\u00b0F), the end of the month still means the end of the tomatoes. Every morning for the past 2 weeks has been bathed in heavy dew and the position of the sun is now well under the forest border, so the garden gets almost no direct heat.<\/p>\n<p>The tomato plants have actually stuck all through September without many sick leaves, but the past week the late blight started spreading rapidly, and this was the sign to harvest all the fruits that were left and to pull the tomato plants out.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-Kcq0wmTqb3k\/YVGtK6covOI\/AAAAAAAACGs\/jN_rAxf1P9krWd9Xi8KPL052yqUwQwxrwCLcBGAsYHQ\/s2048\/IMG_20210926_181258.jpg?ssl=1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"2048\" data-original-width=\"1536\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-Kcq0wmTqb3k\/YVGtK6covOI\/AAAAAAAACGs\/jN_rAxf1P9krWd9Xi8KPL052yqUwQwxrwCLcBGAsYHQ\/w480-h640\/IMG_20210926_181258.jpg?resize=480%2C640&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>My hubby helped me to clean up the beds, so the tomato removal wasn&#8217;t a too difficult task this year. They will have to ripe on the balcony. Although we did get some rain in September, we&#8217;re still in a drought period, and we got only 50 liters of rain this month. On a normal occasion, this would be enough, but with the drought that lasted over 3 months, this is barely enough to wet the upper layers of the soil.
