Although it’s Sunday, today I’ve decided to do some last-minute cabbage planting. I’ve sown some late cabbages in July and today I decided to transplant them just before the rain next week.
I’m not sure the seedlings will have time to make heads but we’ll see.
I forgot to take my hoe with a new handle to the garden and was too lazy to go back to the house to get it so I just pulled the weeds out and transplanted the seedlings. I’ll dig the bed after the rain so there will be no problems.
While I was planting I’ve noticed a pea plant with a flower, perfectly healthy, growing almost 3 months later than the rest of the plants. So apparently I should sow the peas in July, maybe then they would grow nicely if the summer is not too hot.
After the planting, I did a small harvest of the vegetables that can’t wait for the next week. Some cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, and a couple of carrots for lunch.
I’ve also harvested raspberries. This is the second harvest this year and I can’t still get used to the multiple harvests I’m having. Raspberries are here almost 30 years and they never had multiple harvests, and now all of the sudden we’re having 2 or even 3 harvests a year.
And they seem to like this. bushes have never been so big. They are covering my bean bed and keep on growing.
After the harvest, the vegetables needed to go through the inspection by the new helper. Ziva, a puppy found abandoned in the woods is our new foster puppy. She approved the quality of carrots and beans and decided to take a few for herself 😂😂
